Smart Monitoring

Sensor networks and data platforms that make water quality visible in real time.

Overview

Smart Monitoring

Managing water systems without continuous data means reacting to problems after they occur. Smart monitoring changes this by deploying sensor networks that measure key water-quality parameters, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, conductivity, nutrient levels, and flow, and transmitting them to central platforms for analysis.

Modern monitoring combines fixed stations, portable instruments, and increasingly remote-sensing data. Software layers add value through threshold alerting, trend analysis, and data visualisation that let operators spot deterioration early, verify treatment performance, and document compliance with discharge standards.

A well-architected monitoring network is designed around the decisions it must support: sensor placement follows pollution sources and sensitive receptors, maintenance schedules protect data quality, and the platform integrates with operational workflows rather than existing as a standalone dashboard.

The Challenge

The Challenge

Managing water systems on grab samples and monthly lab reports means discovering problems after they happen, a pollution event, a treatment upset, an algal bloom already underway. Without continuous data, operators react instead of managing, and regulators see only snapshots.

Our Approach

Our Approach

  • Define what decisions the data must support before placing a single sensor
  • Place stations where they capture representative conditions
  • Build threshold alerting so events trigger response, not reports
  • Maintain and calibrate, a drifted sensor is worse than none
